About Me

I’m a knitter, quilter, and maker of other miscellaneous crafts. I live in the Seattle area in a 100 year old house with my husband and assorted animals (a dog, a cat, a bunny, some fish, four chickens, and a colony of bees, at last count). I’ve been knitting and doing needlework for about a decade, quilting for about 5 years, and recently started designing (for both knits and quilts).

The name “Measured and Slow” is from a Shel Sliverstein poem called “Where the Sidewalk Ends”. I received a copy of this book from my uncle on the day I was born, and it’s one of my most loved books (in fact, I’ve worn out the original copy and should probably get another one!). Of course, it’s used a bit differently in the poem – but I think it also applies to hand made things!

Finished projects that are available for sale are listed in my Etsy shop, and I take commissions. I make pretty much anything and am always interested in trying new things, so if you have a special request, please email me at measuredandslow@icloud.com or call (360) 602-2602.

  1. Love Maddie’s Infinity scarf you recently posted. What type of cast on does your pattern call for?
    Thanks,

  2. The colors you’ve chosen for this blog are awesome and your work is fantastic! I nominated you for a Liebster Award to help spread the love for your blog. No obligations to respond!
